Biography
Dr. Eleanor Walsh (née Meehan) is a mathematician and STEM Outreach Manager at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. She leads the CRAFT MakerSpace, a dynamic hub for innovative STEM education that engages children, pre-service teachers, educators, and communities through hands-on, design-based learning experiences.
Her work focuses on integrating engineering, digital technologies, and creative approaches to support meaningful and inclusive STEM learning. Through the CRAFT MakerSpace, she designs and delivers a wide range of outreach initiatives, including workshops, school partnerships, and teacher education programmes that promote creativity, problem-solving, and engagement with the Engineering Design Process.
Dr. Walsh is also involved in collaborative projects that connect teacher education, research, and community engagement. Initiatives such as Science for Fun bring together pre-service teachers, schools, and families to enhance STEM engagement while recognising and building on the existing science capital within communities.
Her work is particularly focused on developing scalable, transferable models of STEM outreach that support the implementation of integrated STEM education across diverse educational settings.
