An Inclusive Engineering Mindset: K-12

The American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) recently published a report outlining desired changes in undergraduate engineering and engineering technology education. Knowing that an integrated educational systems approach which spans both K-12 and undergraduate studies maximizes outcomes, the K-12 curriculum becomes the foundation. In this session, we will explore the potential impacts of the K-12 curriculum in creating a more inclusive engineering mindset at the undergraduate level and what changes the K-12 teachers and schools can implement now to maximize the effects. Additionally, we will explore the benefits of an inclusive engineering mindset directly to K-12 students and teachers.
